St Augustine, Florida April 2011
This trip was not intended as an investigation. It was a family vacation for the purpose of serious R&R. This is a beautiful city with an incredible history. Around every corner you feel the taste of Spanish romanticism. Behind the veil of gallantry and heroism lies the dark history of death and murder. Within the back corners of dark streets and the icy glow of ancient cemeteries you can almost feel the terror and agony that is a part of the history of our country’s oldest city. It does not surprise me that there may be many wayward souls that are still attached to the place where they were so violently lost to this world. The future will bring me back to this city to try to see if they are still crying out and to listen for what it is that they want to say.
